Your uncontested divorce will cost just $995 plus filing & service fees of $450 (total $1445).*
Here's the way it works (please print out this page for future reference):
1. We will need to receive a 50% payment ($725) to get started.
2. We will prepare the necessary court documents to start the filing. Due to your religious marriage, we will also need you to come in to sign an additional document to get started.
3. Due to the division of assets, support, and/or custody, we will also need to prepare a Stipulation of Settlement, which is the written agreement between you and your spouse. We will discuss all the details together and make sure that this document provides everything that you want.
4. The court papers and settlement document are personally served on your spouse.
5. Your spouse will review the papers with or without a lawyer and do one of the following:
a. Your spouse will agree to everything and sign & return the papers to us, or
b. Your spouse will request changes to the terms of the settlement, or
c. Your spouse will do nothing.
6. If your spouse does (a), then we will prepare the final papers for filing and you will need to come in to sign everything. You will also need to make final payment of $720.
7. If you spouse does (b), then hopefully we will be able to work out the changes in a cooperative manner, and both of you will agree to the final terms. If so, then we will prepare the final papers for filing and you will need to come
in to sign everything. You will also need to make final payment of $720.
If you cannot reach an amicable agreement, then your divorce will become contested, and court proceedings will be necessary. This will result in significant additional legal fees at our hourly rate, which is currently $125/hour (still about half the price of most other lawyers).
8. If your spouse does (c), then we must wait 40 days. Once the 40 days are up, and your spouse still has not responded, we can move on to the next step without him/her. We will prepare the final papers for filing and you will need to come
in to sign everything. You will also need to make final payment of $720.
9. After the final papers are filed with the court, we then wait for them to be processed and a final judgment of divorce to be issued.
